However, we’ve discovered a way [tested] for you to enable dark mode on Snapchat for Android, but it comes with a catch.

How To Enable Dark Mode On Snapchat On iOS

Snapchat has an official dark mode for iPhone, and you’ll be able to turn it on from the Snapchat settings. [You can also enable dark mode on WhatsApp].

Step 1: Open Snapchat

Open the Snapchat app on your iPhone or iPad device. Then tap on your Bitmoji at the top left corner of your screen.

Step 2: Tap Settings

Once you’re on your profile settings, tap on the Settings icon at the top right corner of your screen. It’s the gear icon.

Step 3: Go To App Appearance

On the Settings page, you’ll have to scroll down and tap on the App Appearance option. Then choose the dark theme for the app to get dark mode on Snapchat.

The Snapchat app doesn’t support the system-wide dark theme for Android devices.

But OxygenOS build based on ColorOS or FuntouchOS will be able to force it on a third-party app like Snapchat without app appearance settings.

Force Snapchat Dark Mode [OxygenOS & ColorOS]

You’ll be able to use selected Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, and Realme phones with the latest versions of Snapchat to force dark mode. [You can also enable dark mode on Pinterest and Twitter].

Step 1: Go To Android Settings

Open your Android phone Settings, tap on Display & brightness, then enable system-wide dark mode.

Step 2: Tap Dark Mode Settings

Once you’ve enabled the system-wide dark theme, tap the Dark mode settings. Then, tap on Dark Mode for third-party apps (beta).

Step 3: Toggle Snapchat

On the third-party apps list, you’ll see apps that don’t include the dark mode option. But with this setting, you can force the dark theme by turning on the app.

If you’re using Samsung or another Android device like Google Pixel, Motorola, Tecno, and other brands you can use this guide to get dark mode on Snapchat.

But you’ll need to install an older version of Snapchat. We tested it with Snapchat v10.72.0.0 and it works, you can download it now from this site. [You can also enable dark mode on Slack and Gmail].

Step 1: Go To Android Settings

Open your Android phone Settings, and scroll down to About phone [Based on different models, it’s either at the top or bottom].

Note, the About phone may appear at the top of the settings or you’ll need to scroll down.

Step 2: Tap On Build Number

On the About phone, scroll down and you’ll see the Build number, then tap on it 6-7 times and you’ll become a Developer.

If you’re using Android 11 or newer, once you tap on the About phone, you may not see the Build option.

Instead, scroll down and tap Status, scroll down and you’ll see the Build number, tap on it 6-7 times and you’ll become a Developer.

Step 3: Go To System

Once you’ve become a Developer on your Android device, go to the Settings home, and scroll to System. Now, tap on the Developer options.

If you’re using Android 11 and newer, you’ll need to tap on Advanced, and then tap on Developer option

Step 4: Tap Override Force-dark

On the Developer options, scroll through the different options and toggle the Override Force-dark option under HARDWARE ACCELERATED RENDERING.

Step 5: Open Snapchat v10.72.0.0

Open the older version of Snapchat that you’ve downloaded on your Android device. And you’ll see that dark theme has been enabled on Snapchat

With this, you’ll not need the App Appearance option to turn on dark mode on Snapchat on Android.

For Dark Mode to work on Snapchat for Android, you’ll need to use an older version. The new version will not WORK, we’ve tested this.
