Using YouTube dark mode is the best choice when viewing videos at night with your computer or mobile device, the amount of reduced light entering your eyes will be minimum.

Dark mode on YouTube is available for all major platforms including Android, iPhone, iPad, and the web.

Turn On YouTube Dark Mode On PC

1. Open your preferred browser and navigate to YouTube.

2. Click on your profile icon at the top right corner of your YouTube screen.

3. Click on Appearance: Light, then select the Dark theme option and YouTube will change its background to dark.

YouTube on iOS supports the system-wide theme settings, but it also has its option if you want to turn on dark mode on YouTube only.

1. Open the YouTube app, and tap on your Google account icon at the top right corner of your screen.

3. Tap on General in the Settings menu.

4. On the General page tap on Dark theme to turn on dark mode.

Enable YouTube Dark Mode on Android

YouTube follows the system-wide theme settings, but if you don’t want everything to be dark you can enable it manually.

Make sure you have the latest version of the YouTube app on your Android phone.

1. Once you open the YouTube app, tap on your Google account icon at the top right corner of your screen.

2. Scroll down and tap on the Settings.

3. Tap on General in the Settings menu, then tap on Appearance.

4. Select Appearance from the list of options. This menu is where you can choose between a dark and light theme.

5. On the Appearance page you’ll see that the Use device theme will be highlighted by default. To turn it on choose the Dark theme.
