As a result of the trend for dark mode, Google has implemented a dark theme to all its apps. Today, we’ll show you how you can enable Gmail dark mode to have a better night look on both desktop and mobile.
The latest release version of the Gmail app on mobile now supports dark mode, and it can be turned on from the app or by using the system dark wide display.
To use Gmail dark mode, you need to be running the latest version of the Gmail app, and your smartphone should be running iOS 13 or newer and Android 10 or newer.

Android dark wide display
To use the Android dark wide display on the Gmail app, the Gmail theme settings need to be on system default.
Open your phone’s settings and scroll down to Display & brightness, to enable dark mode for Android toggle on the Dark theme section and your device will go dark.
Turn on gmail dark mode for iPhone
Gmail respects the system-wide dark mode settings on iOS, so if you switch to dark mode in iOS 13 and newer your Gmail app will also switch to dark mode. There is no way to toggle Gmail dark mode on and off in the app itself.
Open your iPhone’s settings and select Display and brightness to activate the dark theme tap on the Dark theme, then launch Gmail to see the new theme.
Turning on the wide dark display for Android and iOS will allow all apps to turn dark if they support dark mode.
Turn on Gmail dark mode for desktop
To enable the dark theme for Gmail web is through theme selection. Go to the Gmail website, open your account then click on the gear menu button at the top right corner and select the Themes option.
A selection of themes will be displayed for you to choose from, click the Dark theme and it will change your standard white color to black.
If you want a darker theme scroll down and select the Terminal theme, this will turn your current theme color to a thicker dark color.
If you’ll like to use the default Gmail white theme, just go back into the Themes dialog option and select the standard Light Theme and all changes will be made asap.
