Having developed Instagram dark mode for both iPhone and Android, with an option to turn on dark mode for older Android devices, Facebook is officially joining the team of dark — like YouTube, Slack, Twitter, and Pinterest.

Facebook dark mode will help reduce the long-time light brightest from the screen and also help you save more battery. Dark mode for Facebook is available on Android, iPhone, and desktop.

Facebook officially release the long wait feature after making it available to beta testers, now the feature is available for everyone. The feature wants to ease your journey to social interaction (chuckle).

Without the system-wide display, you can still turn on Facebook dark mode on the app. The dark mode gives you a more representative experience, so, having a dark theme helps your device battery and reduces the hardness of your eyes at night.

Turn on Facebook dark mode on Android

1. Open the Facebook app, and tap on the three horizontal lines at the top right corner.

2. Scroll down and select “Settings & Privacy” on the main menu and you’ll see the Dark Mode option.

3. Tap on Dark Mode, then tap on the On button to enable dark mode, or use System Settings to use the system.

For Facebook Lite

If you’re using Facebook Lite, you can turn on dark theme from the menu. If you’re using the Lite version you can enable it. To go dark on Facebook Lite here is how to turn it on.

  1. Open the Facebook Lite app
  2. Tap on the three three horizontal lines at the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Scroll down and select “Settings and Privacy.”
  4. Toggle to turn on dark mode

2. On the Facebook menu scroll down and select “Settings & Privacy”, go down and you’ll see the Dark Mode option.

3. To turn on dark mode, click on the On button or choose the system settings to use the system-wide display settings.

If the option to enable dark mode is not available, update your Facebook app to the latest version.

Enable Facebook dark mode on desktop

The official dark mode for the Facebook web is out, you don’t need to install a browser extension to enable a dark mode for the desktop version.

1. Go to facebook.com on your desktop and sign in to your account, in the top-right corner, select the downward arrow icon. From the drop-down menu, click on Display & accessibility.

2. From the Display & accessibility section, under Dark Mode, click “On” to enable the feature and turn on dark mode.

Turn on Messenger dark mode

Messenger dark mode has been around ever since, you can turn it on for both Android and iOS. Turning on Messenger dark mode is as easy as making a phone call.

1. Open the Facebook Messenger app, then open the menu by tapping on your profile picture.

2. Select the Dark Mode option in the app list and toggle to turn on Dark mode for Messenger.

All the menus, chats, and backgrounds will turn dark. If you change your mind and want to turn off Dark Mode, you simply toggle Dark Mode back off. Dark Mode is also available on WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, Slack, and Twitter.
