How To Cast A Chrome Tab On Your TV

There is a simple procedure that you can use to cast a Google Chrome tab on your TV.

To successfully cast a Google Chrome tab, you need to meet the following requirements. You must have a 

  • Chromecast device, or
  • TV with Chromecast Built-In.

Your computer must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast device.

Step 1: Connect to a Wi-Fi

The first thing you need to do is to connect your computer and your TV to the same Wi-Fi network.

Step 2: Go to Google Chrome

Open Google Chrome on your device and navigate to a web page you would like to cast on your TV screen.

Step 3: Tap on the three dots

Click on the More Options button represented by the three vertical dots icon at the top right corner of the web page.

Step 4: Click on Cast

Click on “Cast” and you’ll see all the devices that you can cast the browsing tab to. Find your TV name and tap on it.

Step 5: Select the Cast tab from the sources option

At the bottom of the list, there is a button – “Sources”. Click on it to choose whether to cast a tab, the desktop, or a file. Select “Cast tab” to cast the tab you are currently on.

If the Chromecast is already in use, the current content is replaced.

To end the cast, on the right of the address bar, click Cast Stop casting.

The videos or images that you cast appear on your computer and TV, but the sound only plays on your TV. Sounds for other tabs and apps still play on your computer.

You can cast your media files on your TV through the Google Chrome Cast feature. All you have to do is drag and drop to any tab and cast.

Step 1: Open file

Open the file that you want to cast in a Chrome tab. You can divide the screen and open File Explorer and Chrome.

Step 2: Drag and Drop

Drag and drop the file into a Chrome tab. Pause the media from playing, and cast the tab to TV.

Step 3: Cast tab to TV

At the top right, click More and then Cast. Choose the Chromecast-enabled device that you want to use. You can now play your music or watch your videos on your TV.


With a Chromecast device and a compatible television, you can cast your Chrome tabs on your TV.

You can also cast your media files on your TV by copying and pasting your media files into a new Chrome tab. You can then cast the Chrome tab onto your TV.
