GTA 5 isn’t available on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, the only way for you to play Grand Theft Auto 5 is through the xCloud (Xbox app), Steam Link, or PS Remote Play. These apps allow users to stream the game from the cloud or mirror screen.
Xbox Game Pass (xCloud)
In 2020, Microsoft released its cloud gaming app, the Xbox app. The app allows users to play games on the cloud without their consoles being turned on.
xCloud is only available for users that are subscribed to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The xCloud is available for both Android and iOS users. Before you can play GTA 5 on xCloud, you need to subscribe to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

How To Play GTA 5 With Xbox Game Pass
To play GTA 5 on your Android device using xCloud, you need to subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. With that in mind here’s how to play GTA 5 with xCloud.
1. Download the Xbox app from the Google Play Store, and log in to your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate account.
2. If you haven’t subscribed yet, you can go to the Xbox Game Pass page to purchase the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Subscription.
3. Once you’ve logged in, go to the cloud games section and select GTA 5. Tap on play to start the game.
For iOS users, you can’t download the Xbox app directly from the App Store, you won’t even use an app. To access Xbox cloud games, you’ll have to go through the web.
Get the controller for xCloud, Steam Link, and PS Remote Play
Steam Link
Steam Link is an app that allows you to mirror games from your PC. With Steam Link you can play games that aren’t available in the Google Play Store.
Since the release of GTA 5, Steam Link has been one of the ways users were able to play it on their mobile devices. GTA 5 on steam Link is different from streaming GTA 5 on xCloud.

How To Play GTA 5 With Steam Link
You can mirror your gameplay to your iOS or Android phone with Steam Link. You need to have a PC to play GTA 5 using Steam Link.
1. First, you’ve to download the Steam Link app from the Google Play Store. And if you’re using iOS you can download Steam Link from the App Store.
2. Open the application and link the app to your Steam account and the connected PC.
3. Click on the “Start Playing” button and the screen will change into the Big Picture Mode and start mirroring your PC interface on your mobile device.
4. You can then select games from Steam Library, choose GTA 5 and then click on the Play button to start the game.
PS Remote Play
Play Station Remote Play is one of the early means that let users play Grand Theft Auto 5.
The PS Remote Play is only available for Play Station 4, and the new next-gen console — the Play Station 5. You’ll have to connect the app and your console to play the game.
If you don’t have Play Station 4 or 5 you can’t use Remote Play. You have to download the app from the Google Play Store and enable Remote Play.
Your smartphone will be mirroring the PlayStation, so any game you play will be showing on your device.

How To Play GTA 5 With PS Remote Play
If you want to play Grand Theft Auto 5 with Play Station Remote Play follow the step below, and don’t forget you must have either PS4 or PS5 console.
1. Download the PS Remote Play from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store, then open the application on your smartphone.
2. Enable the Remote Play option inside of your PS4 or PS5 by heading into Settings > Remote Play Connection Settings > Enable Remote Play.
3. After you’ve enabled Remote Play on your Play Station, log in to your account on the Remote Play application on your smartphone.
4. If the device didn’t connect automatically, you can do so manually by going to Settings > Remote Play Connection Settings > Add device.
Once you’ve successfully connected your device, you can now play the game on your mobile phone. Make sure you’ve got a good internet connection.
What You Need To Play Games On PS Remote Play
PS Remote Play is a free to use feature on all PS4 and PS5 consoles. All you need is:
- Your PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition, PS4 or PS4 Pro connected to your home wired broadband network.
- A compatible device – also connected to your network.
- The free PS Remote Play app.
- A DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller or DualSense controller.
- At least 5Mbps broadband internet – we recommend 15Mbps via a LAN cable for the best experience.
- A compatible PlayStation game.
You cannot directly download and play GTA 5 on your mobile devices, as it is not available on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
If you see any other apps or articles claiming that there is a standalone app for the game, know that it’s fake and illegitimate.
Rockstar Games haven’t mentioned anything about a dedicated app for GTA 5 for iOS and Android.
