The app now allow you to add additional password to your account, which you will use anytime you want to log on to your Telegram account on another device. This will come after using the one-time-password (OTP).

If you’re planning on transit from WhatsApp to Telegram, enabling two-step verification will allow you to get additional security for your account.

Protecting your account with two-step verification on Telegram restricts people from gaining access even when they have access to your SIM card.

WhatsApp also has a two-step verification process to protect your account in case you decide to stay.

The last few months have been a major game-changer for the app since WhatsApp’s new privacy policy, many users have found a space in the messaging app.

If you forget your two-step verification password, you won’t be able to access your messages from another device. That’s why you need to set up a password recovery e-mail to recover your account.

Enable two-step verification in Telegram for Android

1. Open the messaging app on your Android device, and click on the three horizontal lines in the top left corner.

2. Tap on Privacy and Security and go to the Security section.

3. Click on Two-Step Verification, and then tap on Set Additional Password.

4. Add a password for the two-step verification process and then tap continue after you’ve re-entered the password. Set up a hint for the password.

5. Enter your email address to recover your password in case you forget. After entering your email address Telegram will send a verification code to the email address you entered.

7. Type the code to proceed. Now you have a two layer security for your Telegram account.

1. Open the messaging app on your iPhone and click on Settings at the bottom right corner on your iPhone.

2. Tap on Privacy and Security

6. Add your email address and confirm with the verification code send to your the email address you entered.

If you’re using the Telegram desktop app, the process is the same.

Your Telegram account is now secure, the verification method is successful. You will be asked your password anytime you want to use Telegram on another device.

Doing this protects your account from unauthorized access. And don’t forget to start a secret chat to protect your messages from being monitored.
